Workwear Fashion on a 'Mid-size' Body

I love this new term 'Mid-size body'. Although its not actually recognised by any fashion retailers yet, it's taking the internet by storm. All I can say is ABOUT TIME! I think it's great bodies that aren't petite but aren't plus-sized are getting recognised and celebrated- as all bodies deserve to be.

I'm a size 10/12 and it's only very recently that I've learnt to love that. When I began university, aged 18, I was a size 6/8 with abs and the world's quickest metabolism. Over the years, as I've grown bigger and curvier, I've found it very difficult not to compare my body to others and my younger self. I think maybe if this 'mid-size' movement had been around a little earlier, it could have saved me from years of feeling uncomfortable in my own skin.

Recently, In a bid to feel more body positive, I quit following size 0-4 and began filling my social media feeds with mid-size models and influencers. (Girls who looked more like me.) I couldn't believe what such a small change could do for my confidence. (It's mad how social media can govern what we feel about ourselves!) But watching these women embrace their bodies, gave me the boost I needed.

So here's some autumn workwear inspiration for all you mid-size gals! Walk into work feeling confident and loving your body!

Look One: Monochrome Monday

Black Ribbed High Neck Bodysuit (£14.99 from Newlook)

High Waist Gingham Check Peg Trousers (£13.00 from Primark)

Black Revere Collar Overcoat (£30.00 from Quiz)

Accessorised with: Black pumps and handbag.

Colourless, like most monday mornings but stylish all the same. This overcoat is probably my favourite thing in my wardrobe right now. It goes with almost everything and makes me feel super classy.

Look Two: Tartan Tuesday

Tartan Check Dress (£12.00 from Primark)

Black Ribbed High Neck Bodysuit (See above)

Accessorised with: Black Boots, black tights, black backpack.

Absolute 'Clueless' vibes with this little dress, which is why I love it so much. Long sleeve bodysuits also seem to be a staple in my wardrobe at the minute. (I have one in grey and white too which all look great with this dress and create three very different looks.`)

Look Three: Work It Wednesday

White Ribbed Bodysuit (£10.00 from Newlook)

Black Belted High Waist Peg Trousers (£14.99 from Newlook)

Tan Tie Waist Sleeveless Jacket (£20.00 from Quiz)

Accessorised with: Black pumps, black headband, small gold earrings.

This outfit is perfect for the 'in-between' autumn weather. Too warm to take a coat but not warm enough to go without, this sleeveless jacket is your answer. Tied up with a belt or left open, it's a flattering addition to any autumn wardrobe.

Look Four: Floaty Thursday

Light Blue Button Front Shirt (£13.00 from Primark)

Black High Waist Skinny Jeans (£10.00 from Primark)

Accessorised with: Black pumps and gold jewelry.

This oversized shirt is a serious go to on days that I'm not really feeling myself. It's light, floaty, and doesn't cling to anything. Team it with some skimming denim jeans for a real elegant look. I also wear this outfit at the weekend with strappy heels, a layered necklace and clutch bag.

Look Five: Floral Friday

Chiffon Floral Button Front Midi Dress

Accessorise with: Black boots, tights, belt, gold jewelry.

This pretty floral dress is perfect for casual fridays! I loved the cuffed sleeves and flowy A-line skirt. Team with a belt to add definition to your waist. Again, you can dress this look up or down with trainers/heels. I love wearing this with chunky heeled boots!
